We get lots of horse and green flies. I put these up on shepards hooks and coat with the sticky stuff from cans. Flies go crazy when the balls move and stick well. Cleared out the flies in a week or so. Now don't get hit in the head or get painful bites while in or around the garden or pool.I am so pleased with these! I used tangle trap on the balls instead of catch em due to reviews. I was literally catching horse flies as I was hanging it up. They are awesome!! So satisfying. I can literally watch the balls catch the flies. I attached a photo. This photo is 24 hours after I put it out! I have 3 out at the moment and they all look like this. Though the ones I have by the water troughs seem to catch more of the smaller flies and the ones I have by the shelter catch large horse flies. I did stick the balls out before I put tangle trap on because my horses are nuisances and try to steal and make toys out of literally everything they can get a hold of. I did have to move one of the balls twice because the were able to touch it over the fence. I recommend hanging it before you put the sticky on to see if they can reach out if you are using for livestock. I love these so far!It's spring time in buggy muggy Florida. The biting yellow flies (flying teeth)are due in any day now. So in preparation for their arrival, I've done as I have the past few years and purchased these balls placing themin their sunny/shadowy location. Look closely and you will see the smaller blood sucking relatives that have been caught since yesterday. Now my only problem is that out of the set of 3 two were fine but one had a thin spot that once inflated and coated developed a bubble which subsequently burst. Being a sticky messI just threw it away which is the only reason I gave 4 stars. Buy em so we can reduce Floridas' vampires.I have 4 of these around my pool area due to how bad the flies get. You do need to clean them often for them to stay effective. I use a paint scraper to scrap off the dead flies and then apply new bug goo.I was extremely skeptical. But to my dismay they are amazing .Skeptical at first, put 3 around our above ground pool. After 3rd one up, already had horse flies on 1st one. Amazing the amount of flies it attracts. Used to be horrid days swimming for the kids with flies attacking non stop. Now hardly a fly bothers us. 2nd year using.This bug ball when used with the tangle foot adhesive works wonders! Yellow files are the worst in May and it caught A LOT of them. A shock for me is it actually works to catch termites too! Will buy again as my bug balls need replacing, but so far they’ve been great for 3 months!Every May and September the horse flies are horrible. Like chase you in the house invade your car horrible.Ever since we got these balls that is not the case. They may hit you in the backyard one or two at a time but nothing makes it to the front yard affecting the car and front door. We clean the balls with baby oil to get the corpses off and ready for the next season. Then we recoat for May and then September. Everytime they get so covered with deer fly bodies! They truly work wonderfully. Reducing the amout that hound you to a manageable amount.Ball about 17"took a while to receive but other than that, what I wanted. Good product
