I'm about to write a long review coz I feel if I share my experience with hair loss it may help other women in my position.....I lost some hair due to Menopause, and anemia..a few large clumps fell out in the shower which was really upsetting to me since I've had waist length hair for over 25 years. After losing a few large clumps of hair my long hair was straggly so I had to have it cut to my shoulders. I asked a hairdresser friend what shampoo etc I should buy and she recommended the Nioxin range. After the first wash I stopped shedding hair (IKR it's quite unbelievable!) and after 3 weeks the bald areas had begun to grow in. It doesn't say on the packaging but my hairdresser told me to use it every day to keep the hair follicles clean and open in order to encourage new growth. I had been shedding more hair than usual for a few years before the clumps came out so, I'm pleasantly surprised to find that hair is actually growing ALL over my head. I haven't used the 3rd step mouse treatment (because it left my hair looking dirty although i will try it again and only use on the areas where the clumps fell out) so I opted for regain for women instead. The hair had started to grow back in even before I started using the regain so, in all honestly, if you're using this you won't actually HAVE to use the regain. I simply decided to use it as well since my long hair has always been my pride and joy. But, if I use the regain every single day it irritates my scalp so I only use it once a week (the instructions say to use everyday so I don't even know if the regain helps at all but, way I see it it won't be doing any harm either although you DO have to be careful what you use alongside it so dont use any other leave in products or hairspray on the days that u use the regaine) , and the rest of the time I use 12 drops of pure Rosemary oil- always buy from a reputable supplier such as Holland&Barret or Naturallythinking.com OR Tisserand.com. Oils bought almost everywhere else are adulterated and may do more harm than good. NEVER buy essential oil from Amazon or Ebay)So, I use 12 drops of Rosemary oil in a small bottle of pure argan oil (where u can pick up from most pharmacies, it's cheap and in a small brown bottle..... only add 12 drops (I'm an aromatherapist so trust me on this) as a serum to smooth my hair and it also works as a kind of leave in conditioner, just a few drops rubbed between your palms before application, making sure to rub into the scalp is all that needed, anymore and you'll end up looking like an oil slick..And PLEASE dont use any mineral oils such as baby oil as that will block the hair follocles and STOP new hair from growing. If you dont want to or cant use Argan then use Almond oil. If you have a nut allergy then use grapeseed or jojoba oil which, again, you will find on Naturallythinking.com and it isnt exoensive.. Rosemary oil is scientifically proven to accelerate hair growth and Argan oil is proven to strengthen and smooth hair. I also take a good Biotin supplement, selenium, 50mg of zinc PLUS centrum multivitamins for woman. (Im not 50 yet but im thinking of buying the centrum multivitamins for women over 50 since i have hit menopause). Collagen supplements DO NOT DO ANYTHING. The shampoo is slightly minty and the Conditioner is VERY minty. Apparently this helps your scalp to breath therefore encouraging your hair to remain in the Anogen (growing) phase.I bought the small size set in order to try it out without spending a lot more money on the bigger sizes. I'm actually on Amazon this afternoon to order the larger sizes. For the moment I'm not dying my greys because I feel my hair is probably still too fragile but, lucky its hat and scarfs weather and when I go for a night out I have a single clip in hair topper to clip on the top and hide the greys. You can also use these shampoos simply to thicken fine hair but, if like me, you have actually been losing hair due to hormones or anemia, then please be gentle with your hair and don't use any heat AT ALL or hair dyes. I never bought a hair topper made from real hair but if you have the money a real hair topper can be heat styled, I bought a synthetic one but I managed to match the colour perfectly and will be able to use until my hair is strong again and am able to dye it.So I highly recommend the Nioxin shampoos and conditioners and, if in doubt the starter/tester kit only costs £20 and lasts for a month and it takes exactly 28 days to start seeing a difference.althought Nioxin.claim.it will take a few mote months to notice a difference so, perhaps, for some people it will take longer than 28 days (which is the tine it takes for skin cells to renew themself).I also recommend speaking to your GP about hair loss as it may be due to anemia and hormones but, almost may be a sign of kidney disease.Good Luck
